How a Leading Tyre OEM Built a Scalable Fleet Management System in 4 Months with Condense
From zero real-time infrastructure to a fully operational, scalable FMS in 120 days, powered by Condense, deployed on their own cloud, and operated without an in-house streaming team.
Executive Summary
This is not a typical "digital transformation" story. This is the story of a tyre manufacturing enterprise, deeply rooted in industrial operations, launching a digital business unit with a singular goal: build and operate a scalable Transport Management System.
There was no inherited software platform, no Kafka stack, and no backend engineers with cloud-native experience.
Instead, what they had was:
Clear business intent
A new product team
Access to vehicle data from fleets already using their tyres
And a partnership with Zeliot, who brought in Condense
Condense abstracted the underlying complexity of real-time systems. In just four months, the team went from zero to a fully functional TMS, handling diverse telematics payloads, trip states, geofencing logic, and operational alerts.
But, the real value emerged after launch. With Condense managing uptime, patching, Kafka operations, throughput-based autoscaling, and multi-environment provisioning, the TMS team focused exclusively on:
Frontend logic
New feature pipelines
Customer onboarding workflows
Business-side telemetry visualization
By mid-2025, the platform supports over 4000 vehicles and continues to add hundreds more per month, with no degradation in latency, throughput, or operational overhead.
Project Highlights
Clean-slate architecture, built by a team with zero streaming background
End-to-end ingestion, transformation, enrichment, and delivery powered by Condense
Application team focused entirely on features; Condense handled all infra and FinOps
Achieved high-frequency feature releases without any scaling regressions
Multi-environment (Dev/UAT/Prod) deployments with no manual infra management
What was the Challenge?
The OEM team had deep domain expertise in fleet operations but no prior exposure to backend development, Kafka, or real-time data systems. Tasked with building a Fleet Management System that could ingest and act on data from thousands of OEM and third-party telematics units, they quickly ran into foundational challenges:
No stream processors, No cloud-native infra, No decoding logic for diverse protocols, and No understanding of how to handle schema evolution or traffic bursts.
Even basic requirements like correlating a CAN event with a trip state, were hard to execute without a streaming-native foundation.
What they needed was not just a collection of tools or an integration framework, but a full system that was already aligned with mobility use cases and designed for real-time event processing.
Condense became that system, offering prebuilt ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines with full infrastructure abstraction. It allowed the OEM team to bypass foundational streaming complexity and focus entirely on designing business logic, trip orchestration, and operational intelligence for fleet users.
About the Company
In 2023, a leading tyre manufacturer with deep roots in India’s logistics sector launched a separate digital unit to build Transport Management solutions for fleets lacking scalable intelligence, tasked with delivering a Fleet Management System from scratch.
